Welcome to Simquily
Launched in May 2019, Simquily began as an online monthly for the simple and quiet life and has since morphed into a platform for the occasional writings that aim to inspire and encourage. The name Simquily (sim-quill-ee) is a portmanteau inspired by the popular phrase “live a quiet life and work with your hands,” which ultimately comes from the Book of 1 Thessalonians in the New Testament of the Bible—the ultimate source of inspiration, encouragement, and motivation. And so, as you browse this site and read the articles, we hope you find encouragement, motivation, and inspiration for your daily life. After all, living a quiet life is simple, but it’s not necessarily easy.

I am thrilled to welcome you to Simquily! This website was a long-time dream of mine, and while I envisioned this project taking shape in many different ways over the years, my ultimate goal is to publish content that is a blessing to others. As you spend some time on this website, I hope you discover inspiration and encouragement for your everyday life.
In a nutshell, I am a wife and mother. Prior to being a stay-at-home mom, I was a book editor at a publishing house, and before that I worked for an international PR and digital marketing agency. My husband and I have moved around quite a bit, so I’ve also developed a love of all things home: decorating, organizing, renovating, staging, and decluttering. (I have yet to develop a love of packing and unpacking, and I haven’t quite mastered the art of decluttering, but I’m working on it.)
Our lives are works in progress, and sometimes it feels like we’re drinking from a firehose, but we give thanks for our family and friends who love us, support us, encourage us, and speak biblical truths into our lives. We are so thankful for their influence on our lives, and it’s their influence you will often see scattered throughout these pages and articles.
It’s my prayer that much in the same way our family and friends have encouraged and inspired us, Simquily might encourage and inspire you. I hope you enjoy your time on this site and that you come back often.
