Wise Words: Excerpts from the August Issue
This month, we’re taking a bit of a different approach with our Wise Words as we feature a quote from each one of our articles in the August issue. As we explore the theme of seasons this month, we’re focusing on the changing of seasons from summer to fall as well as the various seasons we experience in our lives. I encourage you to check out each one of our articles and pray that the content shared blesses you in big ways!
“When it comes to gardening, there are two things I always tell people: 1) Under watering is always better than over watering. Over watering cuts the oxygen off to the roots and plants will not come back from that. 2) Plants are tough, do not be afraid. Don’t be afraid to rip the roots, or that you will plant it in the wrong spot. If it does not work in the spot, move it later. . . . Gardening can be very therapeutic, both emotionally and physically—enjoy it!”

“Any good author (and God is the best) knows that each chapter has a purpose for the next—there is foreshadowing, there is training (certain lessons are harder than others), there is respite, and there is blessing. Each chapter leading us, by the Author’s pen, into the next chapter, unveiling the story that only a loving, holy God could formulate.”

“Being healthy doesn’t have to mean spending a ton of money. Quite frankly, eating less carbs (trust me, I know it’s hard . . . carbs are my bestie) and more protein (meats) is the easiest and most affordable way to eat healthy.”

“I find most people are working hard to live life ‘right.’ Whatever our right might be. And then real life gets in the way. Singleness or infertility or underemployment or whiny children may not be what we expected, or hoped for, but here we are. We all have our ideal and then we also all have our reality. They rarely match up. This is a book about savoring the reality.”

“In the midst of trial, in realizing God has answered ‘not yet’ or ‘no’ to the desires of my heart, I freely admit that my heart sometimes has a hard time believing what my head knows to be true: that God loves me and He knows best, even when He says no. And it’s during these seasons of waiting when it’s especially important to remember the beautiful and encouraging truths of Scripture—and that God is batting a thousand when it comes to Him keeping His promises.”

“Compared to New York or Los Angeles, Juneau[, Alaska,] might seem like a small town; but its surroundings are larger than life, offering hiking opportunities for every level of hiker. [And] whether it’s majestic mountains, roaring rivers, gigantic glaciers, whooshing waterfalls, fields of wildflowers, or the character of a quaint waterfront town, Juneau offers it all.”
